FAQ

Questions people actually ask

inotepad is simple by design — here are the questions people ask most before they start.

Is inotepad really free?

Yes — the core notepad is free to use for writing and organizing notes. A license unlocks extra capabilities on top of that for more advanced use.

Does it support Markdown?

Yes — write in plain Markdown and inotepad renders it live, or keep it as plain text if you prefer.

Why tags instead of folders?

inotepad doesn't have folders — notes are organized with tags instead. A note can carry several tags at once, which is more flexible than filing it into a single folder.

Which platforms does it run on?

inotepad currently ships native builds for Windows and Linux — see the Download page. macOS and Android support is planned for a future release.

Where are my notes stored?

Locally on your device by default. If you send a note to another device over your local network, it's encrypted end-to-end for the transfer.
