Yes — the core notepad is free to use for writing and organizing notes. A license unlocks extra capabilities on top of that for more advanced use.
Yes — write in plain Markdown and inotepad renders it live, or keep it as plain text if you prefer.
inotepad doesn't have folders — notes are organized with tags instead. A note can carry several tags at once, which is more flexible than filing it into a single folder.

Locally on your device by default. If you send a note to another device over your local network, it's encrypted end-to-end for the transfer.
